Anibal Calcagno

Service & Wine Manager

Since an early age Anibal Calcagno has been interested in wine. At 19 years old while working as a server and bartender he bought his first wine book.  He researched and knew everything about the wines on that list. Destined to be a sommelier he continued to study wines and knew a door would open soon.

He landed his first job as a floor sommelier at Brenner’s Steakhouse. He later became the wine director at that restaurant. Looking for new challenges he assisted with several wine programs and wine events within the Landry’s family of restaurants. He was transferred to New York to run the wine program at Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse.  With 2300 labels it was one of the largest wine programs in New York City at that time. He stayed in New York and ran the fun craft cocktail program and wrote the wine list for Indian Accent in New York City.

Anibal has competed and placed in past Texsom Sommelier competitions. He currently volunteers and serves as an adviser for SommCon and is a guest taster at Wine and Spirits Magazine.  His beverage programs have received press and awards from several publications. He has certifications through The Court of Master Sommeliers, Society of Wine Educators, and the International Sommelier Guild.  He has overseen several award-winning beverage programs in high profile restaurants. He has recently written the Wine Spectator awarded wine programs at Indian Accent and Oceans New York.  He’s now the service and wine manager at Greywind restaurant.
